The TwinSpool Engine is unusual to all existing EDF-Powerplants in so far as it resembles full size jet engines closer than any other DF.

The thrust values from the same diameter are superior to conventional EDFs.

The TwinSpool Engine was developed to achieve the following characteristics:

l       high efflux velocity and

l       small diameter with high thrust, enabling near scale intake sizes.

l       that’s why it is most suited for Scale and Semiscale jets.

General Data:

l       Fan diameter: 65mm

l       Outer diameter: max. 74 mm

l       Power Input (typ.): 10 Cells, 32 A (average current, measured: Sanyo 2000 after 1’)

l       Power Output (typ.): max. 700 g Thrust (measured without inlet ducting but good inlet lip! )

l       Length (typ.): 140mm                  Weight (typ.): 280 g ( ready to run )

l       Motors used: 2xSpeed 480 RACE

The kit consists of:

l       Fans, glassfibre filled, ready turned to the exact diameter, coloured black

l       Fan adaptors for Speed 480

l       Motor tubes from steel ready assembled with CNC-cut former and soldered brass mounts

l       Seamless epoxy glass jet tube

l       Carbon wound ring formers (formerly optional!)

l       vacuum formed motor fairings

l       Gold plated 2mm contacts

l       additional small parts, building material

Assembly of the kit takes about 3 hours and is manageable by any average modeller.

(Resin curing time excluded.)

Speed 480 Motors not included!

The carbon formers give less weight, more roundness accuracy and far more strength i.e. in high performance sport jets.
