The WM 400 fan is an exciting new production fan. It Features a forward
stators (photo 2 below) rear rotor design (photo 3 ).
The Pack
Tuff Packaging, that allows a completed fan to fit in it.
The Adapter has a few features that the edf builder will appreciate. The
shaft adapter has A beveled end to grip more of the shaft of the motor the
correct metals were utilized in the adapter to allow a slot to be placed in the
end of the adapter at the nut to allow for proper tightening
We will have a performance chart up soon on the values.

This completely new fan is another design by Ulf
Herder, utilizing CAD/CAM techniques. It has a 50 mm inner diameter
and accepts motors up to 25 mm in diameter. The rotor is mounted on a
prop adaptor which fits onto the motor shaft. Adaptors are available
for 2.0, 2.3 and 3.17 mm motor shafts to fit all commonly available
motors.
The fan unit was designed around the Graupner SPEED 300 motor, which
gives about 200g of thrust on eight (small) cells.
As the rotor is glass reinforced, it is rigid enough to accept the
power brushless motors, as delivered by Lehner, Hacker, Astro and
other manufacturers. Because the rotor operates at extremely high rpm,
we recommend the use of ball race motors like Multiplex Permax 280 BB
or similar.
For the battery we recommend N-500AR cells with single motored models
and CP 1300/1700 for use with twin motored models.
The fan unit comes without an intake lip, which therefore needs to be
part of the model.

The
Wemotec „Mini Fan 480“ has been designed to accept the wide range of
29 mm motors, although easily accepts the SPEED 400 types as well.
The five bladed rotor comes in
one piece, which makes assembling of the unit quite easy.
With a standard SPEED 480 race on
eight cells you can achieve thrust figures in excess of 400 grams. With
the Plettenberg 200-20-6 or similar, thrust figures of 600 g and more
are easily achievable.

'Offshore' a company situated in Bremen (www.e-impeller.de)
offers a wide range of plans for EDF models.
Most of the plans are based on a fan unit of 66 mm diameter. In the past
that meant buying a Mini Fan 480, cutting off the outer ring (shroud) and
carefully trimming down the stators and rotor. Now we do this job for you.
All that you have do is to build the ducting and glue in the stator. >From
June 2002 we will offer 200 and 400 mm length tubes too. Currently there
are no measurements available for this unit but the HW 505 consumes about
10% less current compared to the standard Mini Fan 480. Thrust is reduced
by about the same amount.
This is usually compensated by one extra cell in the battery. The exhaust
pipe may be reduced to 52 mm diameter to achieve a higher efflux velocity.
Obviously, this fan unit may be used in other designs too. It saves a
considerable amount of weight compared to the Mini Fan 480 and especially
with critical ducting situations it may show its advantages.

The
new standard for 90 mm ducted fans! Eco Fan II and Eco Fan pro where
yesterday. Time has come to set new standards. The new Midi Fan follows
the same design philosophy, that made the Mini Fan 480 a world wide
success already. It replaces both, Eco Fan II (EJT 540 unit) and Eco Fan
pro (EJT cobalt unit).
The new Midi Fan stands for:
maximum static thrust
high efficiency at all
speeds
optimized intake
capability even in extreme ductings
The fan can be powered by a simple
540 can motor on seven cells, up to motors as strong as an Ultra 930-7
running on more than 20 cells. Depending on the motor used, static thrust
in excess of 700 grams can be achieved at 200 W input only, but the fan
can be run on up to 1000 W input delivering 20 N of thrust and more.
The fan unit comes nearly ready
to use. Just the rotor and motor need to be mounted. Eco Fan II and Eco
Fan-pro can easily be upgraded to the new standard by changing rotor and
adaptor only.
HW
609 replaces our RK 709-E. While the Kress fans where originally intended
for IC engines, the new HW series has been designed for electric motors
right from the beginning. This can especially be seen at the rotor design.
We have reduced torque consumption and increased rpm instead. This makes
fitting existing electric motors much easier.
You can choose a 16 turn buggy
motor running on 7-8 cells at the low end, an Ultra 920-4 for better
performance, or even choose a motor like the powerful HP 290-20-6 running on
up to 14 cells. You should choose this EDF unit if the Mini Fan 480 is not
powerful enough, and if there is no suitable space available to fit a 90 mm
fan unit.
Of special interest is this fan
unit as a tuning fan in models like Robbe „Gnat“ or Kyosho „T-33“. These
models are typically driven by an Ultra 920-4 running on eight standard size
cells, or one of the better buggy motors. For this purpose we offer a
special set, that is reduced in price, compared to the complete kit.

streamlined cone, also for HW 620 and Midi Fan
HW
620 replaces the RK 720-E. It is similar in size and performance to the Midi
Fan. You can choose the same motors, but you will gain a higher efflux
velocity at slightly lower static thrust.
In the past many customers did not
like the complicated construction of the RK 709/720. Wie have listened to
that and deliver both the HW 609 as well as the HW 620 nearly completely pre
assembled. It is just left to you to mount the motor and fit the fan unit in
your individual model.
Especially for this EDF we are
developing an F-16 right now, that comes completely moulded and takes
advantage of the efficiency of this unit. Typically you choose in such a
model an HP 290-20-7 and14 cells, or an Ultra 930-6 running on 16 cells. As
we have reduced the torque consumption dramatically, you can even start with
simple 600 size ferrite motors
This
complete new development replaces both the RK 530-E and RK 740-E. The new HW
730 is happy with standard motors, but reaches the performance of the
discontinued RK-740-E.
For the first time ever this kit
comes with a hand layed seven bladed carbon fiber rotor. This brought the
weight of the rotor down to a mere 34 g, which reduces vibrations
remarkably, and makes the fan running very smooth.
At the low end you may start with
SPEED 700 motors, and can reach about 12 N of thrust. A typical choice would
be an Ultra 1300-9 running on 20-24 cells. Here again the fan unit is able
by design to build up a remarkable pressure. Most of the readings have been
done with the optional 80 mm Ř exhaust nozzle!
If you go for a bigger 92 mm Ř
nozzle static thrust readings are even higher.
Mounting time for this unit is
about two hours..
