Product ReveiwActivator Digital AC/DC Peak Charger
This charger is designed for batteries from 50mah to 2000mah, 1.2V to 9.6V. To properly charge all batteries within this range, the Activator features two charge modes. Under the regular charge mode, the Activator produces a linear charge with an adjustable ampere rate between .5 and 6.0 amperes. In the Slow Peak mode, the Activator charges at a fixed 200mah rate to safely peak charge batteries as small as 50 mah. Charge time and peak voltage are stored in memory, allowing battery pack charge performance to be compared. To protect your investment, the Activator includes an internal cooling fan to keep the charger's temperature down extending the charger's life. The Activator will charge every common Ni-Cad and Ni-Mh battery used in the hobby today to its Peak. |

Features:
The Activator can use 110V AC for a power source.
Controls the current. Turning the knob clockwise increases the current flow. Begin each charge with the current turned down.
Before charging, use the Mode Select to select the regular charging mode or the Slow Peak Mode. During charging, the Mode Select chooses what will be viewed in the digital screen.
During charging, push the Mode Select until the AMP LED glows. Use the current adjust knob to select the desired charge rate.
To display the output voltage during charging, push the Mode Select until the green LED for the Volt glows. As the battery charges, the voltage will increase. Once the voltage stops increasing and then begins to decrease, the charger will sense the peak and switch to trickle charge. The voltage displayed is a function of the charger output. It is not the exact voltage of the battery and should be used for reference only.
The Activator will charge your glowplug ignitor such as the Magnum Ni-Starter. Connect the adaptor to the output plug. Then use the custom ni-starter adaptor to connect the Ni-Starter.
Connect the power input, connect the battery, turn the current to low, select the charge mode, then press the Start Button to begin charging
Displays the top voltage reached during the charge. During charging, push the Mode Select until the center LED lights up. This function memorizes the high voltage attained during the charge and remembers it after the charge is finished. The memory is cleared when the battery pack is removed.
Displays the time taken to complete the charge. During charging, push the Mode Select until the Time Led lights up. This function memorizes the time used to reach the peak charge and remembers it after the charge is finished. The memory is cleared when the battery pack is removed.
The slow peak charge function is designed for small (150mah and under) batteries. Use the Mode elect to choose the slow peak function (furthest left and right LED will light up at the same time.) The Slow Peak function must be selected before the charge has started.
When the charger is ready to be used, the charge light will blink slowly. During the initial charge test, the light will flash, alternating with the test light. During regular charge, the light will stay steady. Once the battery has reached peak, the light will flash quickly.
Once the Start Button has been pushed, the test light and the charge light will flash until the charger has deemed the battery ready for charge.
Once the battery reaches peak, an audible tone sounds to let the user know the battery is fully charged.
Once the battery reaches peak, the Activator automatically switches to a slow l00mah charge.
The charger is fuse protected. If the fuse blows (fails) test the charger and battery for improper connection. Replace the fuse only with a 10A fuse. Do NOT bypass the fuse. |
