powered sailplane up to thermalling altitude, stopping the
motor, letting the prop fold, and then soaring without the drag
of a propeller. The drag-free soaring is just part of the fun.
The speed of your sailplane with the propeller folded will
surprise you when you dive it.

Some of the sleeker
electric sailplanes such as the Graupner
UHU are surprisingly fast in a prop-folded dive. The folding
props can also be used as NON-folding props by simply tightening
the two screws that hold the prop blades to the hub. This would
be done on airplanes such as the Hacker Helio
Courier.

OFFSET Gear for 05 / 540 / 560 / 600 / 660 motors with 3.2 mm output shafts. Hardened
steel gears and ball bearings. Available in 2.5:1/ 3:1/ 3.5:1 gear ratios. Output shaft
with ¼ standard engine thread for standard props like 10x6 or 10x7. Output shaft is 18 mm
offset from motor shaft. Motor gear unit can simply be strapped with Nylon tie wraps on to
a U-shape 1/8” plywood bracket. Maintenance: Apply twice a year a thin layer of
Lithium grease to all moving parts in the gear drive. Do not lubricate motor. Keep motors
